Thanks to everyone for their advice.

I ordered a bulb from a Landrover dealer parts department via Ebay and did the job myself.

Straightforward task but refitting the long plastic rod plunger into one of its retaining clips needed a penknife to ease it into place and I can see this being an item that could easily break.

One thing I did find strange was that the bulb was supplied in a Landrover parts box but it wasn't a Landrover branded bulb, it was made by Sylvania.

Surely this is a spurious part and not the genuine manufacturers part?

Any ideas why this should be?

Welcome to the Guild of Qualified FL2 Bulb Changers Very Happy

Re the bulb, Land Rover don't actually make bulbs themselves. Sylvania are their current supplier providing the bulbs in Land Rover packaging

Was given a pair of Halford 9005 HB3 bulbs today so have fitted them ready for a Scottish expedition next week Razz
First impression is that they are indeed brighter than the OEM bulbs but will fully road test them soon No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

2 year warranty on bulbs - dealer replace & fit for free

Well the bulb I fitted in June 2018 has just stopped working. I noticed that on the receipt that I have from the Landrover dealer states all parts 2 year part & labour warranty. I bought this bulb from Matford Landrover in Devon via their Ebay site.

I rang them up and they advised me to go to my local Landrover dealer who will supply and fit a replacement free of charge on production of my receipt. Fortunately I'm only 10 mins away so I'm going to call in tomorrow morning and see what happens.

Can't say I'm too confident that they will do what the supplying dealer said but I will try.

Anyone else had similar experience?

No, would have tried H7s but problem seems to be availability of the adapter which holds the lamp into the reflector mounting. Bought some off Amazon which were claimed to be the correct fitment, but wrong size. If anyone knows of an adapter which works please post a link.

Incidentally my LR indy has just given up the same search and stuck 100w rally lamps in his. So far I still have got a mixture of Osram Nightbreaker Lasers in main beam, and Philips RacingVision in the dipped units. Glad no longer have a vehicle with projectors and HB3.

Ive just fitted H11 LEDs cheap as chips work very, (beam pattern is good ) but I am concerned how little air space there is with the projector type lamp units.

Osram - Night Breaker - Laser

Well that didn't go very well. Thought I'd give the Osram Night Breaker "Laser" a whirl.

First bulb blew after 3 months, second at about 4 months but in a truly spectacular way. In the (nearly) hundreds of headlight bulbs i've changed, i've never seen one fail so completely.

The glass still in the headlight unit seemed to be melted into the plastic!

Attempts at contacting Osram have fallen on deaf ears, so they are fully off my purchasing list now. Back to finding the cheapest bulbs available and swapping only once a year.
