Doesn’t the list say it’s a chain? |

Yes but the garage disagree with the list as does the Audi main dealer. The engine is ridiculously quiet when running which in itself suggests belt rather than chain. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Fairly easy to check the timing covers are different, with a belt they are wider and should be dry inside, with a chain they are thinner possibly made of alloy rather than plastic ( though could be plastic) but the water pump is external to the timing cover as opposed to internal on the belt driven camshafts. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Got the Fl2 back today from the local garage thats soon to close. With antifreeze and the labour it was £225 and I supplied the kit and ancillary belt and crank bolt. So about £325 all in.

I have had a call today, on a bank holiday, from Guy Salmon Coventry, who have offered me to replace my 7 year Cambelt and change it for a fixed price of £295 inc. Apparently, there is a huge push on vehicles over 3 years old for general repairs as well as servicing, with rates fixed by the manufacturer and the difference in what Sytner would normally charge in the form of rebate back to them.

When I got a quote it was also fixed at £295, when I asked if it included the water pump was told no that would be another £180 so I went to my local Indi. |
