JEKO snow belts.

Ordered them from www.the12voltshop.co.uk on Friday 5th December and they arrived today Wednesday 10th December.

I have just tried one on and it fits fine on my 235 x 65 x 17" Conticontact tyre. I don't think it would take more than a few minutes to fit all 12 belts. As the FL2 tyres are large the extra red pieces in the kit are not needed. This is mentioned in the instructions. The gloves are ok if you have small Italian hands, but my long Devon fingers.....

As a relatively lost cost emergency item, my guess is that they will do the job of traction well. Long term use, maybe chains are more suitable, but then chains can wear out quickly too, and cost a lot more than these snow belts.

It was as I feared, a further 13 GBP in shipping costs.

I opted for a set of Spikes-Spiders in the end (same as LR rebranded/repriced traction devices) but at a much more reasonable price. I haven't needed to use them in earnest yet but have done a trial fit and chain adjustment so that all is ready if required.

Once the kit has been set up it only takes two or three minutes to mount the carrier plate to each hub and then to fit the chains is less than a minute a wheel. Definitely quick and easy, the only drawback is that they are a bit bulky so take up a fair bit of space to carry around. I have put some pics in my album, one reproduced below:

It looks like it is time for the chains in the UK now.

Am I missing something, but why do you need snowchains in the UK? Shocked I went up and down this 1 in 6 gradient hill yesterday (Walbury Hill) on hard packed snow/ice with no problems, HDC worked a treat on the way down... standard tyres with about 6 or 7mm of tread!

Quote Podcast: "why do you need snowchains in the UK?"

No, it would not be necessary in the UK if you have experience to run on winter roads.
If you are unsure, however, and only have the summer tires, it is perhaps a good idea.
YOU decide yourself.

You haven´t any problems when you are alone on the road. Any problem comes if you encounter obstacles (another car), so you must stop. A stationary car on a slippery slope can slide out of the road. The key to successful driving on slippery slopes,is to be in motion. LR Freelander2 2,2 Td4 HSE manuel Stornaway Grey (Metallic) & Ebony Black Leather & Sun/Moon-roof & Bi-Xenon & Roof Rails & Tow bar & Body side rubbing strips & Cold climate pack & Privacy glass & NavTeq .
