LED tail lights on a trailer

Hi all
I need to replace a tail light unit on my box trailer. If I fit LED units will this affect the operation of my indicators?

Thanks.

Only difference fitting leds to your trailer is that when towing the little trailer telltale on the dashboard won't light up as leds don't draw enough current for it to work. Thumbs Up

Hi Oz Maate. I have 2008 SE TD4 and use an adapted Ford LED "Connector LED Trail" so all electrics work fine, including the trailer tell tail for the indicators and silenced reverse sensors when coupled up.

The Ford part is for 12 pin which has the four resistors pre-fitted (two at each coupling end). Cost $62 incl GST with no haggle factor (was in a rush)

My FL2 has factory wiring (Large 7 pin round) so I removed the MALE end 12 pin (removing the 5 excess wires) and refitted a 7 pin round. In doing this I insulated the wiring for one of the two resistors so there are no shorts. (forgot to take piccy).

This allows the on-dash trailer indicator to work AND silences the reverse parking sensors (when in reverse)

USAGE TRAP = I always connect the trailer wiring with the FL ignition OFF. Same for Disconnecting trailer wiring.

End product has done a few thousand K's of travel with 6x4 off road trailer and works a treat. Statistics, where one can be one, two.

$62? Ouch. The LED light units cost me less than $20. I run a 7 pin flat all the way, I'm sure there's a resistor cable available somewhere. Really it's not that much of a hassle, although having the reverse warning going off even when I've got the pushy on the back is a bit much.
Thanks for dropping by.
