2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
Has anyone got a photo of their rear? (with detach towbar)

Has anyone got a decent photo of the back end of their car with a detachable towbar fitted & detached. Mainly to help me decide on whether to swap my LR fixed one or not depending on how much of an aesthetic improvement it looks

I think the AUS have their own approval rating on tow bars, and when off roading with a off road trailer they need something more substantial Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The LR removable bar by Thule/Brink is shown on page 26 of the LR accessories catalogue along with the fixed towbar options.... http://landrover.tagworldwide.com/freeland..._overview@

The only reason to have the removable bar is to prevent one from contacting the towbar withe one's legs Censored when accessing the boot.

The 12S/12N sockets (or 13pin equivalent) are very visible in either case and rather spoil the rear of the vehicle. Big Cry

Here is one filthy, salt covered and hard worked rear today. I've done a lot of difficult miles today in , what for most people have been impassable conditions. Wow. That is all I can say! GGS and HDC have been a breeze.

Anyhow, off topic, rear showing LR detachable tow bar, fitted by LR, removed on a HST. I think this is a neat option with no bumper cut outs visible. There is a slight cut out 'underneath', but not visible from the rear:

I have the same towbar. We have our own design rules that towbars must comply with. When the Freelander 2 first arrived in Australia in 2007 there was a 3 month wait before LR could supply towbars that met the local regulations.

For some bizarre reason the towbar has both Australian and European electrical connections (black and white plugs).
