Gearbox oil flush

Hi all

Just in case anyone is interested I just received a price on an auto gearbox flush on a SD4 from jgs4X4 in Northamptonshire.

£260 inc Vat.

Steve, this is a complete flush which changes all the oil in one go, so you end you with a clean box and 100% new oil. Gone - MY11, TD4 XS, Bali Blue

I got the price ahead of buying.

Most of the vehicles I am looking at have over 60,000 on the clock. My intention is to change all the fluids as soon as I buy one just to give me piece of mind.

Most Disco 3, RRS and Full Fat owners flush the gearbox every 60 to 70k.

Hi Jim,
How did your auto box flush go? Did you notice any improvement, smoother, quieter?
I was thinking of doing the same on my MY 2007 HSE (@90k). It has just had a Superchips Bluefin re-map (157bhp to 190) and the car has been transformed with more torque mid-range, showing better mpg on the computer and just a more satisfying eager drive.
Since I have had the car (from 70k and one previous owner) I have noticed a vibration (or drumming) as you move up the gears. It is not always there, it is usually momentary and after the re-map it has appeared less and at a different point on acceleration - perhaps due to the re-map talking to the gearbox?
According to JGS and others offering flushes these symptoms could be down to old, tired gearbox fluid?

Did mine myself on my Evoque recently. Cost me just over £80 and I like to think I got most of it out. Eventually! An FL2 is a lot easier.

Draining and refilling will never get all the old oil out the box. It needs flushed properly for that Thumbs Up


This was my gearbox oil at 115k miles...



Since changing, the gearchanges are much, much smoother, TC locks up earlier, all its "clunkiness" has disappeared, and fuel economy has improved marginally too Thumbs Up
