There are over 130 pages about the heating system in the downloadable workshop manual. To me it sounds like a problem with the vent "door" actuators. But its a bit of a guess as Ive never had to work on the FL's heating system. It looks a pain to get at and, according to the manual, the blower motor needs special tools to remove it. Jules |

What you describe is, as Jules suggests, the temperature 'flap motor' running between one full end of travel and the other, trying to find the end position. I would suggest either the door is blocked (something has dropped in or built up) or the motor its self is becoming faulty. Either way, this is likely going to need the dash and the HVAC out of the car to diagnose correctly. On the occasions its works normally, its probably not as cold/warm outside so isn't having to move the door to the full range of travel and doesn't hit the blockage/end stop. You could try starting with a lower temperature target and slowly moving up, but this will mean remembering to set the temperature setting low when you get out of the car. |
