Given that throttle bodies are used on all diesel cars I have never come across anyone except FL2 owners that have had a problem with them. There was some time ago on this forum a discussion about the need to calibrate and set up the end points which no one ever seems to bother about. Any views or comments? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

So far as I can see there is a plate held on with 3 screws which appears to stabilise the outer end of the shaft with the big gear and some contacts underneath which make contact with points on the underside of gear, none of which have any facility for adjustment, (or "calibration".)

They are fitted at the factory and then failing (years later) so I would assume that the original should have been calibrated at the factory or as part of the PDI, this then if calibrated should never fail, or only as often as it does on other cars if made to a similar standard. yorky bob think that's the old one as there is an "up graded version" as said thats the LR price but cannot see any difference unless the gears are different (or new number + more £).

The car emits a high tone after the engine is switched off it took 15 minutes and that tone changed slightly as it is in the video, is it normal?

Hi, noise is normal but 15 minutes would seem too long. On my one it lasts maybe 30s before shutting down. Possibly a faulty throttle body. ? Freelander 2 GS Stornoway Grey

I don't know, other times it usually shuts down after a short time maybe 1 minute but today I cleaned the interior of the car and opened and closed the door, i go about 10 km and then shut down the engine, but I just don't mind the change in tone intensity

I've had two throttle bodies replaced on two Fl2's , both were calibrated by the Landrover tech I use .

Just for more info. Does the engine stop quickly and quietly when you turn off? If it runs on a bit and judders to a stop then I would change it.

If it’s broken and crunching when you switch off, irrespective of how it shuts down, I’d change it. It isn’t going to get better by itself! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
