Yup, JLR want there vehicle range all on one site, my dealer no longer is a new car franchise only used LRs because it’s too small to have both ranges, so a new dealership was built to the JLR generic standard. Every JLR dealership looks the same. It’s sad their reliability is so bad that they need a staffed coffee bar Rolling Eyes 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Hard hitting, and critical “what went wrong” analysis in the Telegraph: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/comment/j...ent-wrong/ (May need a subscription to read).

“… a series of unlucky gambles has put the company in a spectacularly poor position pre-Brexit and post-Diesel gate. Car manufacturers know they’re not all going to survive the approaching storm, and Jaguar Land Rover is exposed to the most bitter headwinds”.

It discusses British redundancies being reflected in new jobs at the new Nitra plant, shameful quality issues, and a loss of a sense of design function.

I think the big difference these days is that the “ Premier Dealerships *“ don’t sell cars . They sell a finance package attached to an ever more irrelevant “ lifestyle “ products. . This is the case for most of the major brands . Great stuff when I was working and had a choice of company leased or cash to do your own thing . When you come to put your own cash into something you start to ask yourself if you really want to spend sixty of seventy thousand pounds over the next 9 years to run around in the latest and greatest . If things get tighter post Brexit , flash motors will be one of the first thing to be dumped in favour of more cash in people’s pockets .

* Subaru showrooms are still like LR ones used to be when I was buying Defenders , staffed by blokes in V necked sweaters and open necked shirts who can tell you whether you can get 2 dogs , 3 guns or your fishing gear in the boot Rolling with laughter , because they probably have done that themselves . When the Freelander dies , I honestly can’t see a LR product I want to replace it with. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Re. Building works, The dealer in Aberystwyth is also building a new showroom but I was told that is due to them having to have separate premises for Land. Rover and Hyundai. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I think that JLR luckily found themselves on the crest of the new SUV braking wave.

Unfortunately they then choose to spend their new found money on becoming a fashion statement.

I hope they realise that the wave has now broken, and they need to re-align some of their products to cater for the not so rich like me.

PS I love my FL2, and would love a RRS, but at that price I would be frightened to use it. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
