I can't speak for modern Toyotas but I had a 1996 Rav 4 - It was the most dangerously under-engineered fragile pile of rubbish I've ever owned, parts literally fell off it, it was very tinny and it had a structural crack in the rear door where it could not take the weight of its own rear-mounter spare wheel. Every winter the central locking froze and you could not get into it (I believe Canadian customer brought a class action for that). The speedo packed up at 35,000 miles. I won't list any more items as life is too short ! It would take a lot to tempt me into a Toyota again but then, given the growing list of problems on my FL2, it would take a lot to tempt me into another Landover too ! FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

My mechanic said they start falling apart at 90k km. Diesel V8 2000 rpm at 95kph, they swallow fuel, chew through oil, suspension problems, dust sealing. Probably why they need so many mechanics around the county! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

SWMBO had a RAV4 and whenever I drove it (rarely) I always thought it would tip over going around bends Shocked If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Did he mean they fell apart at 90 kph. Rolling with laughter Common sense isn't very common.

I had a Rav 4 (2007) before the FL2 , good car, not outstanding, but was always worried about the terminal engine problem that some of them were prone to . No comparison to the FL2 though! MY 2013 SD GS Auto
