Hi folks. My TD4 had an oil service warning come up on the dash about a month ago. It disappeared a few days later after a long run. By this point I had booked it in for a service and MOT as it would be due the service at the start of December anyway so I went ahead with it.

To be fair I haven't considered checking the oil level, I'll do that today. I'll try the rest as well. I'm just concerned as if it's the warning that comes on based on dilution then I have a problem... FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues 2019 DS. Terribly unreliable. Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed.... Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎 Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be… |

Garage needs to re-set both dilution AND mileage at service time with a DPF car and many do not doing only mileage. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I've done the reset so time will tell if there's something else up.

Trust me I went through this a month ago after clearing the service side myself, had to pay a indie to re-set the Diloution count. All you will do is confuse yourself further down the line on a TD4 with a DPF.

Did the above procedure do the dilution and service count or just the service? If the latter can I reset the dilution one? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I suggest you take seriously the oil service message as the oil dilution, on DPF equipped cars, could lead to this: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic32690.html |

It’s all down to oil changes I have always replaced my engine oil + filter every 6000 miles |

Jack my very regular oil changes did not stop the service message coming up recently. I could have ignored it but if the car needed recovering it stipulates the vehicle will not be recovered under the policy if not maintained and who is the recovery guy going to believe me or my car read out ! My indie will clear service messages back to zero for £25 (cash). No brainer in my opinion. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

So Alex, is my only option, even though theres now no warning anywhere, to take it to somewhere where the dilution reading can be zeroed again? Since it's been a few weeks since the oil was changed would I also now need the oil changed again so the zeroed reading was "true"? If this needs reset by a dealer/indie every time the car has its oil changed, how are so many people doing their own DIY services without the expensive LR tool to reset the reading? I just tried to warn people of the importance of resetting/zeroing the oil service timer when the oil service is performed.
