On locking one bleep good, two bleeps bad, no bleeps terrible.

One bleep tells you that all is locked and alarmed.

The double bleep on locking normally indicates that something is open or ajar.

No bleeps mean that the car has not responded to the signal from your key and is still unlocked. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Hi all,

I have similar issues with the wifes FL been on going for a while now. The main issues is locking.
Pressing the lock button looks all the doors except the drivers. If you watch the drivers door through the passenger window while pressing the look button you can see the lock gradually moving with each press until it finally locks.

My guess is that I need to replace (or clean up) the motor or solenoid (what ever it is).

The questions is where is the best place to get the replacements from.

Occasionally one of the rear doors does not unlock too. Dorian Woolger

Same... front nearside door locks but doesn't unlock. I am really getting jarred off with this car. Local Indy has quoted a little over £200 to supply and fit a new lock module... hate to think what a main dealer would price it at.

Hi all

I bought my door lock actuator from the main dealer around £114 as they had it on the shelf and I planned to take it back should it not fix the fault or the wrong part number, there seems to be a few different specifications for the parts.
I didn’t want to go to the trouble of stripping the door out to find I had the wrong one. My original lasted 10 years and I’d like this one to do the same!
You can get pattern parts off eBay but check the details and part number, there are uk stockists that offer free returns for £50 with 5 year guarantee.

Replacing is fairly easy once you’ve worked out what to do and I think I’d do the next one in a couple of hours. Brgds

Well... I stripped down my front passenger door today...

    1. Removed the lock module and took it apart
    2. Removed the two motors
    3. Took the larger motor apart, cleaned the brushes and rotor
    4. Reassembled motor and with a 9v battery, ascertained that both motors work.
    5. Put the lock module together - just one little circular spring left over but I couldn't work out where from Question

I then put it all back together (except the door card) and... nothing. It's like no power is getting to that door lock but external door handle works. Window and puddle light work too Oh... flat battery to boot, got the three minute warning but couldn't start the car.

New module to be sourced. Jump leads tomorrow in daylight. How I hate this car Confused

HappyNomad,

Take a look at this video

This is for the XC70 (first cousin)

If the parts are similar or identical you will see in the video where the small round spring is installed

Good luck

Paul

Good stuff with the video above - thanks Paul. The whole thing is reassembled but back to lock but not unlock. A new part is the next step.

Good find with the parts at Advanced Factors... don't know about discounts or if they are Land Rover or pattern parts. At the moment there are no non 'genuine' parts or accessories on/in the car... how long that'll last is open to debate?

Today, I discovered the driver side 'one shot' window doesn't work but holding the switch up or down is ok...

How much will I have to pay somebody to take this sh*t heap off my hands Rolling with laughter

I have the same issue with sporadic unlocking on the driver's side door

Great video (love that upgrade module for the tailgate that just plugs into the diagnostic port)

Couple of questions as I have never dismantled the FL2 doors (yet) Whistle
1. Are the innards of our doors the same as the video?

2. Anyone got a part number and/or supplier for the electric motors we saw being replaced?

Thanks Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

The Volvo door is not the same as ours... see here:

https://youtu.be/HRD3OGDm6Gs

https://youtu.be/hYgRErBL4kw

Innards of the door are as shown in the above vids... the chap struggles a bit and breaks a cable linkage (which he then bodged with a bit of baling wire) because he doesn't take the (external) door handle off. Having done the same door twice now, I recommend taking the handle off and removing the handle internals and lock module together.

Be careful not to drop any screws inside the door (only one really - the one that holds the external handle in place).

I don't think the motor(s) are available as parts from Land Rover... possibly from Volvo or Ford and I believe Toyota sell something very similar.

Window one touch fixed - easy
New lock assembly ordered from Dan/Duckworths
Car booked into Bell’s for haldex service /repair
New service plan - should be and was agreed as B / A / B has been confirmed in writing today as A / B / A and a month earlier than the car's registration anniversary???

Next car will a 1979 ford cortina I think.

Thanks for that
I'm gonna try a pattern part first see how that goes
I know what motor to buy so may have a tinker with the existing unit when I replace it if it is successful I may put it back on

Just need ti find time and weather to do it now Thumbs Up

EDIT: I've found and ordered a pattern mechanism new for £23 from UK so will see what that does seems to be absolutely identical to other suppliers' offerings at 3 times more No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

New latch fitted and all is well. Took me about 80 minutes starting from scratch - practice makes pefect eh Laughing

I can only think that although the old latch appeared to work off the door, once it was back under load, the worn main motor wasn't up to the job. Both motors and the latching mechanism appeared to work on the bench but the best I got once back on the car was a bit of a twitch from the locking button.

If I need another one on any of the other doors, I may buy a cheap pattern part and just take the motors from it to recondition the existing LR latch. If that works it'll be £50 - 60 cheaper than a LR part (a cheap Chinese made 12v motor is just a cheap Chinese motor whether it us in a Land Rover latch or a cheap EBay copy. Apart from motors there doesn't appear to be anything likely to fail in the latch itself.

I think DIY lock changing saves about 2 hours of main dealer labour charges... hmm, that gives me £300 to spend in the pub Rolling with laughter

About a quarter of the price of a Land Rover Genuine part then. They are all probably made in the same Chinese factory too.

The only Land Rover identifier is a paper label stuck on the outer casing. They have 'Made in Germany' on the label but that may (and probably does) mean 'Assembled in Germany' as the whole thing is clearly two distinct and separate parts, the motor housing (plastic part with the label) and the latch assembly (metal part bottom right.

My logic exactly Thumbs Up
Ordered the part via eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-discovery-3...2749.l2649
Arrived this morning - very well packed via Royal mail signed for (included in price). Is almost identical to original even moulding marks and numbers match - good solid construction.
Now fitted and working perfectly in about 2 hours
I will try and source a replacement motor and intend to re-furbish the OEM part
Well pleased job done for a fraction of dealer rate Bow down No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS
