Useful broadband speeds.

I get a fairly steady 15mb/s download speed from my BT broadband and for two or three of us in the house it's quite adequate. We watch the BBC iplayer and do all the usual surfing stuff without a problem. I keep getting offers from BT to upgrade to "superfast" which equates to about 45mb/s in this area and last week even had the offer of a free upgrade for 18 months after which I pay more. So this weekend I was staying with my daughter in Canterbury and noticed that she was getting about 50mb/s yet the response on my phone and tablet seemed similar to home. So I might as well stay on my current deal, what speed are others happy with? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

It's an absolute & utter circus down under. We have just given up the landline at 5Mbps download & 500Kbps upload, it's worse than a decade ago!

So if I want to use the computer on the internet I hotspot it via the mobile. On a good night I have had up to 86Mbps download & 9.4Mbps upload & this is via wifi to the computer.

& a fraction of the price of the whole landline joke. Just before my last holiday old copper phone lines in my street were being upgraded with copper! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I currently get around 33Mbps d/l and around 10Mbps u/l with Sky ''super fast'' broadband - soon to be upgraded to around 60Mbps for free.

weve had someone playing FIFA and other high graphic games with headset so speech as well, Netflix/amazon, 3 phones, and tablet all hooked up at the same time. No issues what so ever.

However a lot of small - medium business out there still only use 2Mbps links and they have no issues at all.

if your happy with 15Mbps and its does its job then stick with it, unless they offer you a genuine free for life upgrade

We've not long moved out to the sticks, where speeds for downloads are averaging around 15Mbps and uploads only around 1.5Mbps. In our last house, we were regulary getting 35+ Mbps and 10Mbps.

You would think that we would notice a huge difference, but to be honest, moving from an area with 1000+ houses to one with perhaps 100 houses means that there are not that many people around - therefore since moving we've only had 1 'buffering' message on iPlayer, compared to the daily issues seen in the last house

So my advice would be that if things are working well now, then why upgrade, you may actually end up paying more but essentially getting the same service Thumbs Up

i just went form Virgins 200mb with 10mb upload to their faster 350mb service as it has a 20mb upload, which i wanted as i store everything in the cloud or online backups

TBH the devices dont connect at 350, they still maintain the 180mb download as before, but they are uploading faster

Last month, broadband usage was just over 1TB of downloads Shocked Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Virgin are definitely leading the way in high speed for broadbands and that's before they are getting fibre direct to the customer. Once you have a fibre cable to your house or business its only the equipment you have that will restrict your speeds.

Stick with what you got the BT deal is not worth the paper it's written on, my bro swapped his and within weeks speed dropped and prices rose.

We are both out in the sticks mind so don't know about urban areas with better choices. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

BT are shortly digging a trench 1/4 mile long in my field to bring me superfast. I await true confirmation of this as all Ive heard of it was a guy drove up the lane surveying the job,

Superfast is defiantly getting installed on the main road, but previously I was declared out of range 1/4 mile from this road

I get around 15mbps in work and 35mbps at home, both with Talk Talk although when weā€™ve been away and staying in remote cottages in the Peak District with about 3mbps, you can notice the speed slowdown but our Amazon Firestick still runs Netflix, Amazon prime and iPlayer well. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Present: Audi A3 S Line.

We are currently getting 0.04Mbps. download and 0.41Mbps on uploads with TalkTalk. This is after a so-called upgrade in August! We were promised 10-16Mbps with the upgrade, but are getting less than before.Needless to say,the engineer is coming tomorrow to sort the problem.

Gigaclear Fibre to the premise give us 50meg upload and download. around Ā£ 45 That's their cheapest tarriff. The real saving though with Gigaclear is the option of buying the Vonage VOIP. Ā£15 a month for all calls to landlines and mobiles, and a few Countries

For the most part, 15mbps is more than enough. Anything faster and for things like general browsing you're just not going to see a difference.

It's only when 2 or 3 devices are streaming HD content at the same time that you'll begin to notice drops etc. I get approximately 25mbps and can have internet radio playing plus 2 kids steaming iPlayer and still have a browsing experience as if no one else was using the connection.

If you're happy with what you're getting and what you're paying, don't change it! Although your line is what dictates your speed and so shouldn't change when you move ISP they employ various methods which may affect your overall experience, so it's often a gamble. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because Iā€™m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though šŸ˜Ž
Couldnā€™t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to beā€¦
