Another bulb question

I've read that FL2's are prone to headlight problems.
My handbook says my MY13 takes HB3 bulbs but when I search online I'm getting HB3 and H7, halogen and Xenon.
Short of taking the headlight out to take a peek can anyone shine a light on it...pun intended Very Happy

I think it's written in the headlamp

I have an 09 car which takes 2 x H7’s in each headlamp.
I think the later models with the DRL’s took a single H3 but I stand to be corrected. Derek Hill

As mentioned above. If you open the bonnet and look down at the light here is a white sticker on the light that gives details of the light fitted. It should have either HAL for halogen or HID for xenon. If you have an xs then it is most probably halogen. Oh and welcome. Thumbs Up

Hi, I have a MY13 xs too, that has an HB3 which is a single filament bulb and a movable reflector unit. You may be able to hear the reflector unit move. I tried to buy bulbs at halfords, but guy there didn't understand the system used so kept giving me twin filament bulbs! Their ''catalogue'' didn't show late model FL2s.

Helfruad catalogue says the lamp for swmbo Kia was a Mini lamp Rolling Eyes NOT.
There was something a while back on here that they had stopped selling lamps to facelifted Freelanders. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

yes that was me that was refused by Hellfrauds, they didn't want responsibility for HB3 bulbs blowing in LR/RR so just refused to sell them or list them.

There is a thread on here, which I added to, with a LR technical Bulletin number to modify the wiring for late model FL2 fitted with HB3 Halogen. Its free of charge at any LR main dealer.

technical bulletin LTB00841V2 released in March 2016)
Take that reference to your local LR dealer and it should be a free of charge modification.

in the meantime buy the bulbs from your local LR dealer, cost me about £35 but at least they lasted longer than any others I fitted.

Thanks all for your advice.
Took the car to the dealer who replaced bulb while I was there and it was indeed an HB3. If they are as prone to popping as often as they do I'm glad they are only a fiver.

That sounds cheap. The ones I've got from various dealers were well over that price - more like £15 I seem to remember

Thanks Rob knew someone mentioned it and since they done mine no more blowen lamps Wink
Just came back from having tailgate switch done and whilst talking to workshop manager I mentioned bloody poor lighting and he said about a brighter lamp that they now use and he is getting me some FOC.
Something about the pattern of light. Will keep you all posted.

PS. Don't put bulbs in your car as you don't want flowers growing in the headlamps Thumbs Up If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
