2.2 TD4, SD4 Differences?

I know the SD4 is more powerful but are they the same engine in a different state of tune? I only enquire as I recently had an Antara that was 163bhp they also did a 184bhp version of the 2.2 engine and it was I believe just tuning that separated the two. I put a RacePro 2 on it and it was a huge performance increase pushing it to near 200bhp! The fuel economy improved greatly I was getting 42mpg on mixed driving as I did not have to use the throttle pedal as hard as I did prior to the chip being fitted.
So if there are no differences in the engines I was wondering if boosting the output on the Freelander 2 would be advisable, not complaining about the existing power but better response and fuel economy would always be a bonus

2011 onward ... strictly identical excepting the engine map, 150 CV for TD4 and 190 CV for the SD4. same Torque 420NM

may be some differences between SD4 and pre facelift 2011 TD4

I will let you do the math but if you average say a 2 mpg improvement how long is it before a kit pays for itself. Many would need to pay for fitting and setting up i assume, or would they ?

Point being as always from moi if it ain’t broke ignore fads and add ons and save for preventative medicine. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks for the replies, mine is a 2014 so not sure if there are differences then re turbo, but I am a believer in if it aint broke dont fix it, well most of the time Laughing
I will probably think about it in the future but I also agree on cost over gain. Thumbs Up

Porsche Laughing No Ithink I may have not explained myself well, its not that I am unhappy with the performance, just that on the Antara the difference in the way the engine responded and also increased the economy made me think, but no plans to go down that route

There were no SD engines prior to 2011MY, it is not a chip tune there are mechanical differences and a 2014 will have the last of the modified 2.2 SD engines as the soon to be introduced Ingenium engine was the where the money went. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Pleased with my Sd4 too but also wonder if a remap or chip would improve driveability, towing ability and fuel economy.
