I would try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins see if it resets, the door panels inside are easy to get off to check out what's happening in there but I'm not sure it would be possible with the door shut ?

I press on the door open button on key fob several times until you see both green arrows of the indicators on dashboard flashing meaning that it has accepted the mode and the car now is on a none locking stage, you won't be able to lock the car doors with the key fob, however to reverse it back you repeat the same process but this time you press on the lock button until the indicators flash again, I open the car as normal and pull on the stuck door handle and it open up, it has now been working fine for over a week.

Most likely needs a door latch and will fail again.

Just to give you an update on the lock, since doing the locking-unlocking with the key fob last month the lock is still operating as normal.
Thanks

Hello Dave,
Yes still working and I've not had any problems since. I have opened and closed the door either from the inside and outside many many times, fingers cross it should stay like this for a long time to come.

Just to report: The tailgate on my 2013 MY SD4 HSE stopped opening when car is unlocked and using the tailgate handle. It would only unlock and open using the tailgate switch on the key fob. Reading related threads on the Forum I readied myself to start dismantling the tailgate panels to get to the switch and locking mechanism. Thought I'd just try the method as quoted above and, yes it worked!
It is still working. Thanks for the quick fix. It seems to be a case of resetting some of the control logic and not a hardware failure. 2013 SD4 SE (hers)

I may be being a bit dim here (probably!)!

I too have this problem and trying to follow the hc1jig's "fix" instructions......

Every time I press my unlock button the green arrows flash. Do I keep pressing until they flash in a different way?? Roughly how many times?? <10>10??

Would really like to solve this!

Rangerider, I pressed the unlock button many times - probably about 20 times in quick succession before the car went into the unlock status with the green arrows both flicking a couple of times on their own.
I do not know the exact number of times or the interval between button pressings but it worked in the end!
After going into the unlock mode I pressed the lock button - also many times and the car reverted back to normal mode - reacting normal on the lock and unlock buttons.
And the tailgate back to normal as well!! Thumbs Up
