Inchcape Extended Warranty

I’ve searched and read about the motoreasy extended warranty but wondered if anyone had taken an Inchcape warranty with a land rover purchase. Garage used to be Hunters of Derby but is changing to Inchcape. Warranty is £1695 for 3 years and from the looks of it will cover gearbox, Haldex and diff. It states all major mechanical and electrical parts are covered but does have a long line of exclusions.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated!

No doubt you will be tied into expensive servicing so coupled with that it may not quite the offer you want or need. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

It just says I have to stick to manufacturer guidelines and be able to evidence this. I can take it anywhere reputable but have to phone them first and provide details before the claim can be authorized.

The way I want to look at it is say the Diff needed replacing it’s £700 ish at Bell, then if the Haldex went another sum of money, plus any other major component. I’ll be paying interest if it’s purchase to in the long run it will cost me more over the 5 year term.

Anyone have a list of common issues and their respective cost roughly? That may help to make my decision!

Having watched my son trying to get money out of Warranty Direct for his Porsche a couple of times I decided never to bother with 3rd party warranties. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I bought my 2009 HSE from Hunters LandRover last year and as part of the deal got a three year Inchcape used car warranty from them for £687.
Before I committed to the purchase I made a pain of myself interrogating the staff in both sales and service as to how good the warranty is.
I know it’s a gamble and you never know how hard a dealer will wriggle to get out of a claim. I thought for the price it’s worth a gamble.
Not withstanding the fair wear and tear clause, from what they told me and from what I read from the Inchcape warranty booklet, it seems their warranty is almost as good as the LandRover approved used warranty with just one spefic exclusion, that being oil seals.
They insisted that was the only difference, the LR Approved used warranty covered everything (not wear & tear) as does the Inchcape except oil seals.
In reality I hope I never need to make a claim and expect a fight if I do have to make one.
But all things being equal, I trust the Inchcape name more than any other warranty available and would purchase again.
Incidentally, as long as the vehicle is serviced in accordance with the manufacturers specific guidance, you can have it done by any VAT registered garage and the warranty will not be affected. Derek Hill

In my experience it's not the dealer that's the problem, it's the insurance backed warranty company that approves the work. Will they cover diagnostic work or dismantling etc? My son had a problem with one of the front radiators on his Porsche 911, it was clear that the fan wasn't working (you could see it) but we had to pay for the front of the car to come off and then wait for a few days for an inspector to come and visit and agree that the fan had failed. They paid for the fan but we then had an argument about paying for the dismantling work and the insurance excess. We had another issue with a pop up headlamp washer on another Porsche (which are a legal requirement if you have Xenons) but they wouldn't pay up saying that they were not electric (they pop up under pressure!). Hopefully Inchcape are better than this. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

when my last Evoque was discovered to have been accident damaged, it needed a new PTU, Gearbox and various other bits and pieces. total bill around £7k !! but all covered by LR Approved used warranty.

When I got it back and the gear change didn't feel right, the LR dealership that had done the other work diagnosed that the clutch and flywheel also needed replacing but the warranty company refused to pay for it (£1600) as the clutch was classed as fair wear and tear even though it should have been covered under the consequential failure clause.

Even the LR warranties are managed by 3rd party companies now, and even they will try and wriggle out of paying for stuff.

Rog your car would not have done enough miles to need a clutch and any problem would have been caused by the spotty faced youth that took the box out in the first place. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

it had 80k on the clock... so clutch may well have been about due, however it was fine before the gearbox swap. The changes into 1st and 2nd were very clunky and notchy after the swap and difficult to get in gear sometimes,
