Old thread but just a reminder that there is a lot of gastric outbreaks on cruise ships. Quite a few end up in hospital so make sure you have insurance just in case you have to get a helicopter off the ship to save your life!.

Yes, generally down to poor hygiene from some of the passengers not washing their hands after visiting the toilet. I've seen it too many times. Every restaurant or buffet on a cruise ship has a multitude of hand sanitizer stations at the entrance which passengers have to use. On another note of anyones interested, my wife has just found out that two parties were kicked off Independence Of The Seas two weeks ago. One for having a food fight in the buffet restaurant and the other for having a bit of ahem intimacy in the hot tub at 5pm! Martyn 2010 Sport LE Auto |

Take some sea sickness pills and some loperamide (Immodium - the Immodium rapid works very well). These two things should look after both ends.

I’d recommend getting the name right first. It’s Oceana and it’s a nice size ship to have your first cruise on. We did our first proper cruise on this in 2009. Oceania is a different ship and a bit more pricey than the Oceana! On a 7 day med cruise I’d recommend a fly cruise as you’ll 'waste' 4 days getting to the med and back from the UK. Currently on the Oceana on a 7 day Italy/Croatia fly/cruise from Malta. Just about to leave Venice. We’ve been here before so opted for a boat trip around Venice directly from our ship. Just as well - the place is absolutely jam packed if you’re on foot. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto Present: Audi A3 S Line. |

LoL. After the Oceana, we did a Caribbean cruise on the Azura. We’ve just got back on board after a short trip ashore in Split. What a hell-hole! 5 ships in port, seems to be some sort of transport hub around the port area - loads of of touts pestering as you come out of the port, dozens of busses, cabs, coaches, Tuk Tuks, and hundreds if not thousands of people with cases absolutely everywhere. There’s a massive market selling all sorts of tourist tat plus a fish/veg/meat market that stinks to high heaven. Weathers changed for the worse too. Thunder and lightning at the moment but no rain yet! Glad to be back on ship and even gladder that we didn’t book an excursion today. One more formal night tonight - I wonder whether I’ll be able to squeeze into my dinner jacket - seems to have got smaller since getting on board. Nothing beats 14 nights on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal I say. Barnsley Bitter and Chip sandwiches and a few of these FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Don’t remind me.....last time I was REALLY ill my team were away at Lommel testing, the local hotel we always used had a special on.....Ostrich......well being away on work and amongst work mates of course I ordered the Ostrich......JEEZ, , did I?......like a upside down chocolate fountain (sorry for the graphic description) unfortunately it was our last day and I had to drive home from Belgium......how the hell I did it I will never know.....the channel crossing was a challenge that day for sure (before the tunnel).......we found out that Marcel (the hotel owner) had purchased the “meat” from the local zoo after their star attraction had died.....the next time I avoided the Zebra special Regards David Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me...... Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again...... |
