GS Screen Upgrade

Hi, I have a 14 plate GS which I would like to add the larger 7inch touchscreen from XS spec. If I buy a unit out of an XS from a breakers can this be fitted easily to my GS and be fully functioning? I’ve watched loads of videos of dash removal done in pre facelift models but not in the facelift version!

I’m also really wanting to see the rear front park sensor lines/beeps for the wife Very Happy)

in short "No".
Lots, lots more involved you'd be better off selling your GS and buying one with the higher grade ICE. MY15

It’s a shame, I had the same idea. It’s about the only negative I can think of with the GS (now that I’ve retro fitted front fog lights).
I’ll not change car just to have an updated ICE system though! Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

It's not that it can't be done, it's just a mammoth and potentially expensive thing to do

At a minimum you'd need to replace the head unit which is the most master, the screen, probably the amp. But then the real problem is wiring it all up. You might manage to make an overlay loom if you've plenty of experience and patience and a good attention to detail. Assuming the loom works you'll then need to install it. You can probably install it without taking the dash out, but you'll likely need to take the front passenger seat and or the centre console.

If you don't want to make your own loom ( bare in mind some of the connectors can't be bought) then you'll need to change the loom from the donor. And this is where it gets fun as you'll need to replace the entire cabin and dash harness which means removing the entire interior to the metal work, including the dash, possibly without removing the roof liner.

Doing it with some one who knew what they where doing, having a donor parked side by side, I reckon. You could do it in 4 days

Then you have to program it all in.

Lol, exactly what Vanny outlines but also....
Replace 4 main harnesses, dash, 2 chassis and roof, new RJB.
Not to mention subwoofer, door harnesses and speakers, roof GPS/Dab arials which would have to be drilled into the roof as the roof panel is different.
Too many Ccf fields to even mention to be changed.
If someone gave me their car and their credit card I’d do it as a project, be fun😜😂 MY15

That's what I did and its worked out very well. so far just about everything I've needed wiring wise for my HSE+ retrofits have been in the harness already. Memory seats, rear camera, premium surround have been pretty much plug and play save for CCF edits. Extra wiring has only been needed for non standard options such as TV and RSE and even then they haven't been too complicated.

CCF

I’ve read a few forums about this CCF and am not sure what it is. Can you give me an idiots guide to this. I assume it’s some programming thing to talk to the cars onboard computer to make things work that weren’t factory installed!

Car Configuration List is basically an electronic master feature list.

It's continually broadcast on to the network and tells all the ECU's what they can and can not do, for example it includes transmission type, marque (range rover, land rover, jaguar) number of wheels, what sized screen you have and so on. There are literally hundreds of options.
