Rear Strut fitting Cost MY13 Onwards

Anyone had the rear struts changed recently as I would like to establish what was charged for this work. One local (Yorkshire) specialist who has done them previously wants 3 hours a side.

Thanks in advance Yorky FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

From memory I think it took under 2hrs at a LR specialist when I had my rears fitted on my old Fl2. Cost was around the £300 mark with genuine LR shocks . I got a good deal on a full set of KYB shocks for my wifes Fl2 at £300 for the set and my LR mechanic fitted them for £30 a corner .

Out of interest, how have your struts failed?
What sort of mileage/age can we expect from MY13 struts? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Ian I am in a quandary. The vehicle is now becoming twitchy on the road compared of old and most may ignore this sort of limited change until something more dramatic happens. Car is around 68,000 miles and not generally off roaded.

No obvious knocks bangs or broken springs to see but its not ridding correctly and its a hard decision to choose where to start to get back to what I think is a solid and stable ride, my wife also has noted the change. If the shocks / struts could be taken off and easily checked on a bench that would be my preference but alas not, so I need to start somewhere and I am going for the rear struts first as I have given the rear springs etc some abuse in the past with weight. If that fails its going to cost a set of front struts as well as one of the 4 I feel sure is not working but the springs are strong and it may masks the failure. I could be wrong of course but when someone gets this car after me its not going to be a pup.

Watch this space as it will be reported on truthfully. Parts have been a killer to order as nothing but JLR rear struts are available, got a price off site sponsors Dan and also Matfords and did not play one off against the other and I found Matfords came in slightly cheaper this time (sorry Dan).

Some phone calls this afternoon make me feel one guy who suggests he is cheaper than a main dealer is not really and that is Censored me off. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Price Big Cry without having them side by side I could not tell you exactly but it is going to be that the Electric hand brake (EHB) was introduced so the brake mountings will be different and probably that is it. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
