I’m in Florida at the minute on holiday and been struck by how little corrosion there is on local cars, obviously due to no road salt , calipers and discs on even older cars look factory fresh. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

What quality you replace them with matters as well. I am on my third set of rear discs from new (2 sets replaced by 63,000 miles). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I bought a 2007 FL2 in 2010 with 17000 miles on the clock. I’ve since added 60000 miles and only just had the brake discs changed and a second set of brake pads fitted. I’ve no idea what the discs looked like when they came off, but I do have a good look around whenever I have the wheels off and that’s twice a year not counting punctures and hadn’t noticed anything as bad as this. |

Try looking on the inner disc face. I’ve never seen it on the outer face. Outside can look perfect while the inside is rotten. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
