Best route

I’m looking for some advice from you guys down south , I’m going from Macclesfield to st Neots (near Cambridge) in a few weeks traveling on a Friday morning.
Google map gives me 2 options 1, goes down via m6 toll at Birmingham then go by Milton Keynes. Route 2 takes me on A roads through stoke on Trent then south of Nottingham then on to the M1 .
I’ll be towing a caravan, not that that’s an issue unless you’re CG Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

Where in St Neots ? I am a little south of this at Biggleswade.

You could try M6, A14, A1

Do you REALLY need to go as far south as Milton Keynes? I would have thought the A14 from the M1 would take you more directly No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

The A14 is a 2 lane dual carriageway, the only problem with it is that it gets clogged up with lorries and caravans! FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

From Milton Keynes across to the A1 (Black Cat Roundabout) is dual carriageway A412 (Bedford South bye pass) then it is a short hop north up the A1 to St Neots. It is probably a little shorter going A14 then A1 south but there will not be a lot in it.

If you are into old planes you should run down the A1 and visit the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden - they have a lot old pre and post WW1 aircraft there, in fact if you remember the film "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" a number of those aircraft are in the collection.

Why the heck anyone from 'the North' would want to stay at a campsite in 'the South' is beyond me ....... unless it was an overnight stay for heading out to Europe (or Devon/Cornwall).
If not, there are great areas of our Northern country to explore- the Lakes, Peaks, Dales, Moors and even unexploited areas of Scotland e.g. Galloway, etc.

Confused

If you do travel further afield (aka south), good luck and make sure you let your Embassy know of your travel plans. Thumbs Up

Laughing FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,

We’re going to a cl in Macclesfield for 5 nights (the best cl I’ve ever been too) then heading down to st Neots to surprise my mate as it’s his birthday.
One other thing about down south .. no midges. My cousin is working on Skye and has been eaten alive for weeks.
I don’t need to let the embassy know .. I’m British Thumbs Up Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!
