Hi, got a problem with battery light remaining on, I took the car for MOT and noticed light on , when I asked my wife she said been like that for a least a month! I've checked the battery, 12.6v, checked alternator engine running getting 13,6v. Seen a post about a blue wire going to alternator causing similar light on problem before. Anybody got any ideas?

I had exactly the same problem but I panicked and fitted an extra earth lead, bought a new battery and then checked the battery voltage with the engine running and found it to be 13.6v which told me it was charging. After much searching i found the post about the blue lead under the diesel fuel filter and guess what, it was nearly worn through !!!!!!

it is not an easy job to repair unless you have very small hands and a tiny soldering iron, or use crimp connectors but it does cure the problem and very cheaply ( if you do it yourself )

PS I also priced a new alternator which horrified me and persuaded me to investigate the blue wire..

Sorry I removed the first reply which had this in it

Remove large black plastic cover, remove diesel fuel filter and associated metal bracket and then the blue cable can be seen.
See photo below when the damage can be seen when you zoom in

Thanks for all your help mgwanderer, got it fixed today, more or less damaged same place as yours, just as blue/brown cable came out he loom cable protection.

hi all. does anyone know what amps the communication wire is? I was hoping to repair it, but have found it easier to bypass the problem. Trouble is I can buy as much wire as I need, but have been confused by the amount of different amp cables are available. Would appreciate any help. Thanks. Pedro.

What you need is more power:

 FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

Hi Clive. Job done !! Took a bit of jiggling about. Had to dismantle fuel filter system and move a couple of looms but got eyes on to the problem. Did exactly what was advised by other members. Saved a couple of hundred pounds doing it myself. Many thanks to you and all members for the info and tips . Pedro.
