VW Touareg

hi all,

my colleague, who has travelled as a passenger loads of times in my FL2, is hell bent on buying a VW Touareg V6 TDI 3.0 ltr (now that the prices have plumetted).

I'm trying to convince him to get an FL2 (so there will be 2 of us owners in Denmark Rolling with laughter ) - but does anyone know of any negative aspects of the VW (in addition to the fuel consumption etc)...............?

I tried to find a forum so I could read up on all the faults................ Thumbs Up

Hmmmm I have always admired the Touareg, but cant afford one. It costs twice as much as the FL2.

Touareg can be compared to Range Rover or RR Sport. FL2 is one size down.

As you know, Touareg is the brother to Porsche Cayenne. In many ways the same car, -only much cheaper.

If you want your friend to look away from the Touareg, and in the direction of Land Rover, you should point at Range Rover or Range Rover Sport.

Yes, I have driven the Touareg on a couple of occations, and it is a wonderful car to drive.

Also, it is the only other SUV apart from Land Rovers you actually can take outside the street and into the woods. (in other words: OFF-ROAD.) You cant do that with X5, Q7, XC90, ML, GL etc etc.

As I cant afford a.m. size of cars, I must say I believe the FL2 is the absolute best SUV one size down from the Touareg and the others. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

A good friend of mine has a Touareg, he looked at the FL2 but the towing capacity wasn't enough for his boat. I think the VW offers a 3500kg capacity (3.0 V6 TDI). it is a great car and VW offer something similar to LRE to prove its off road performance. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

My pal also has a Touareg, which I think he is satisfied with Question Gets him to his mountain cabin as well as my FL2 gets me to mine. Both probably can do similar things off-road (except the LR downhill bit). The biggest differences is the original HIGH purchase price Shocked and HIGH running costs Shocked - but of course you do get HIGH status for the price Yawn 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I looked at the Touareg forum (thanks for the link, npinks) - and the problems they have (software, mechanical etc etc), are almost identical to ours !

I've never been a great fan of VW. They are plagued with electrical problems. The Toureg looks ok, but it's not in the same league as the Disco 3 / RRS. The FL2 is too small to be comparable. The toureg can go off road, but it's not competent as the LR vehicles and in any case, if you want an SUV, it's gotta be Land Rover! Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

I did hear somewhere that the V10 diesel had 2 batteries, as it took that much power to start it. That's some engine, imagine that in the FL2. Laughing

In terms of size, cost etc isn't it the VW Tiguan that is comparable with the FL2? Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
