best tyres to fit other than contis

For what it is worth I have Mitchelin latitude cross on mine not cheap but have been very good

I always stuck with Goodyear, the MTRs were well suited to mud or deep water (as in outside lane of M56 at 70mph!), the standard version were good for 30k with 3mm tread left but got noisy after that.

Currently have 19" Avon ZX7 fitted. Seem ok in all aspects except perhaps longevity... (I didn't measure the tread depth when new so they may well be ok for wear rate too).

... time will tell but they are now on their second summer season and the car is only averaging 6-7 thousand miles per year on a set summer and a set winter tyres.

Had Michelin Cross Climates on my Forester, got great mileage out of them. They were only 17in but assume they must come in Landy sizes. Bought them through Black Circles who iirc at that time gave treble Tesco points which worked out to be worth about £25

Depends very much on your balance between on road and off road driving, and whether you want summer, winder of all season tyres.

I have found that the Michelin Latitude Cross works well for me.

It's as good as anything else on the road, yet better than most off road.

That is one odd looking tread pattern, you sure you didn't photoshop and merge two different treads together.
Seriously though, as long as they work.

My tyre of choice is the Cooper Zeon LTZ ..... a "Sports AT" tyre.

Robinson--don't know why you're anti Conti's; Here's my story;

August 2016, Bought from Asda, fitted by Halfords; 4 x Conti CrossContact LX-2 235/65R17 108HXL £414.56. These are on deliberately downsized 17" wheels from 19" which were standard on my Sd4 auto HSE. When I made the change and fitted the new tyres, the ride was transformed from hard and uncomfortable to firm, positive, and reassuring.

Total mileage in 22 months; 32,302. Assuming original tread depth of 8mm, the remaining treads are Front 5mm, Rear 6mm. (about to be swapped).

At that rate of wear and expecting to renew when at about 3mm, I reckon they should take me through till winter 2019. or about 50K.

About 40% of that mileage is 3 annual trips across europe on motorways, and twisty-turnys through the Alps and Pyrenees.

I would definitely recommend Contis.

Tread on the Scorpions on the front of my 63 plate still legal but considerably less than the rears. Could I perhaps just replace the fronts with Scorpions, in which case leave them on the front or swap about? Or bite the bullet and at a slightly later date replace all 4? Full size spare is a Scorpion and unused

ive just had 4 Scorpions Verde all seasons fitted to mine, seem great so far. Had wranglers prior to the Scorpions, they were great and lasted ages (over 40k miles). The wranglers just got a bit noisy once the tread got low.

But all in all the Scorpions and the wranglers get my vote. 2010 HSE SD4 in Santorini black
