Tyres can make some difference (pressures as well) but anything over 35 mpg is reasonable. SD4 to TD4 or vice versa change ?

I guess it depends on what the chip has done or perhaps the way you are enjoying what the chip does! My TD4 has managed around 500 miles per tank pretty consistently across 16 fills, since I got it at the end of October. As your new one is a low mileage diesel, I wonder if it has suffered from a lot of short trips and this has left some legacy issues that need sorting? Thanks for that. Just had full service at my usual LR Specialist so will see what I get on the next full tank. |

that's about right for an i6, you could put it on LPG, slightly less miles but a lot cheaper, well it is here, don't you have cheap petrol there? Common sense isn't very common.

Just worked out my mpg over last 2 fills. Exactly 35 mpg which is my best to date. Car has only done 27k miles and is 4 years old. (10000 of those by me in last 6 months!) I suspect it’s only getting properly run in now and will improve. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

How's this for a 450 mile run from Dorset to Kent, M3, M25, M20 etc to Canterbury then a bit of local travel ? Can't be bad.

Yes I play soothing Radio 3 music to slow me down although on the M25 you are lucky if you can hit 70 very often. The SD4 auto is not bad as a cruiser given its size. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

So first six full months of ownership, November to April, 10,700 miles at an average of 36.7 mpg. 1500 miles in May averaged 38.8 mpg. Clearly the benefit of warmer weather (the stop/start even kicked in twice!) and seems to even outweigh the fact that the air-con is on. I’m hoping for great things in June as I’d really like to be able to match my old (petrol) Volvo’s 42 mpg summer average! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

I have a 2010 GS TD4.e manual and get between 36-37mpg, mostly done on B roads back and fore to work in Inverness about 12 miles from home. I'm not a particularly fast driver but nor do I hang about.... To be honest, I think its quite a good mpg given the car. |
