Er, No, you will find an elected President or other title will cost at least twice as much as a Royal head of state, at the moment Parliament controls the Royal Purse, with an elected leader they will be from the government of the day and the wish for an Airbus 380 as the presidential mode of transport will be overwhelming as will the need to update Buck house at a cost of billions as it has overtones of the deposed monarchy. There again they may well want a new palace for the leader again at a cost of a billion or so my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Do you think so? I think he is planning to depose the current monarchy gang and make himself King Corbyn.

Nice to see a right royal Landy still in service. Pity that Jaguar all but removed themselves from the market for large executive, ministerial and government vip cars by their obsession with squashing the roof on their saloons.

JLR get a lot of free publicity from Royals and politicians driving around in Land/Range Rovers. It will be interesting to see what cars are used for the Royal Wedding this weekend. Could be the ultimate product placement opportunity with an expected worldwide TV audience of a couple of billion people. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had a brief few words with the Duke of Edinburgh a few years back when he and the Queen visited the Helicopter Museum.

I watched a bit of the Wedding yesterday and although I am not particularly a Monarchist it struck me that no other country on earth could have put on an event like that which reached a TV audience of nearly 2bn. Got to be good for UK plc. Oh and that 4hp Landau looked pretty cool too in an understated sort of way. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
