United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

[quote="robbyvrs"]Glaze is used to get a shine (usually for shows or when selling a car, etc) so doesn't last long, a sealant is supposed to last anywhere from 6 months onwards as it's a coating so this beads for a few months.
I used Jetseal 109 for a couple of years before the Poorboys and that was great at first then the new bottle i bought seemed to go off (went like porridge) which is why i switched to PB and this goes on very easy and comes off easy enough.
I used to use Megs NXT which i thought was great, and to be honest apart from how long polishes last i can't really tell the difference between them these days, on white cars you don't have the wow factor but do get a nice deep shine with a good wax/ sealant.

The steering wheel trims are made from a flexible plastic, nice deep gloss finish to match the dash pieces and have nice bevelled finishes to the holes so the pieces aren't just flat like a sticker. They do sit proud a few MM but i guess if you didn't know they were stuck on you'd not notice and think they were LR parts[/quote
So bought EXP to give it a try, not had a chance to use it yet but looking forward to it. Idly looking at reviews of it and I read that some people are recommending wax on to of it!

Have a look on the Detailing World forum - http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php lot's of info on there

With the EXP apply in small sections at a time and allow to cure for 1/2 hour before buffing off - it does say to leave it on longer for a deeper shine and to apply a 2nd coat.
I usually apply to 1 side of the car at a time, wait an hour or so then buff off before doing the other side.

Also - in winter keep the bottle indoors as in a cold/ damp garage polishes "go off" as my last sealant turned porridge like Sad

Razz I was thinking about getting the surround wrapped or dipped gloss black (afraid paint might chip) then trying to find a leather stitched gaitor for the gear lever - hmmm Confused

Mines still like new it’s been painted gloss black since 2015 IIRC. I’ve recently been speaking to Twisted regarding having the gear lever finished in perforated leather. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

So tried the poorboys exp and it’s ok but not fantastic long lasting beading or sheeting of water like I’d hoped. And it has had several coats. After a week of mucky rainy weather the beading is much reduced. My search will have to continue for the perfect product ! Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

How long did you leave it on before buffing off?
Mine is still beading after a month the same as when it was applied (left for about an hour before buffing off), did you clay the paint first as this gives a nice smooth surface for the sealant to cling to?

Washed, clayed, polished, waxed, sealed!
God its a big job nowadays! My dad and grandad didnt do all this faffing about when they polished their cars, bucket of water and a quick lick over with Simoniz or Turtlewax.
Guess "detailing" wasnt invented then?
At least I enjoy it and find it theraputic Thumbs Up Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Well after my usual 3 months of ownership i bought another car today (polo GT - my 2nd) so the FL is going next weekend Embarassed whoever buys it will get a great car as it needs for nothing

As it's being traded in as a standard specced car i'll be selling some parts which i'll be removing this weekend.

19" alloy with Continental tyre 6mm (same as ones fitted to car - Dynamic model) - i'll need a tyre inflation kit in p/x for this - SOLD
Full set of gloss black genuine plastics (not stick on but replacements) - 3 piece dash. 4 door handle inserts + stick on steering wheel covers - £100
Full set of rubber mats (genuine LR) - £30
Rubber boot liner (genuine LR) - £30
2 pairs of Ring HB3 ice blue legal bulbs in sealed packs - £10

I'll be putting ads in classifieds section with more photos but pics are in this thread

collection from Huddersfield preffered

Car now gone so all parts ready for collection/ despatch

I'll probably regret selling it but as i'm only doing 8 miles to work and back it's a waste of a great car - depreciation, 29.9mpg and door dinks from works car park aren't helping Sad

Sad to see you leave so soon!
I’ll have the rubber mats if carriage to Northern Ireland isn’t prohibitive.

Well that didn't last long. I'm trying Stonelske now to have a look at my sticking clutch pedal. Hope I don't have to sell it after 😀
