The original Range Rover, the Original Discovery, the original Defender, the original Freelander..... they are all discontinued models but all shared a major part in keeping the brand afloat. It would be interesting to see global sales figures for each model throughout the years and see which is the overall best seller.

Get the feeling someone at Land Rover has decided the Freelander never existed which is a shame. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I forget where but I read (probably here) they are intending to launch a new baby SUV which will have the Freelander name. As with all car manufacturers the latest models get bigger, more complicated and more expensive. They tend to find they need a new small model as their previous small models are no longer small. I guess they could have called the Disco Sport Freelander 3 (which I agree would have made more sense) and then called then new baby Freelander Sport. With so many models, if you also include the Jaguar F Pace etc. I cant really see them sustaining such a wide product line for any length of time. |

I’m glad they ditched the Freelander 2 as it will be remembered as the most reliable Land Rover to date. Excellent command view also with the seats at lowest setting. Discovery Sport just feels like an Audi all road! MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Some of my family used to be into Citroens. They were always a bit quirky but very innovative, think the Citroen Avant (first front wheel drive car in 1934), then the DS (hydraulic suspension, steerable headlights), SM (Maserati engine), BX (semi automatic ie manual gearbox with torque convertor), XM (computer controlled suspension 1990 plus first to have radio controls on steering wheel etc). All very innovative then PSA Peugeot took them over and all they produce now is boring cars that excite nobody.

Never thought of that until now when I was in dealers getting lamp fix there was a car under a sheet there and have to say it looked big, square & quite boxie (if that's a word) but you know what I mean, If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
