Surround Camera System Retrofit “COMPLETED”

With all outstanding projects about to be completed I can now turn my attention to the Surround Camera retrofit.
Surround Camera activation requires a multiple CCF field activation which I have active on the touchscreen.



Camera’s can be set up as a “shortcut” softkey from main menu or accessed via “Extra Features” sub menu.





Currently as I don’t have the IPMB (Camera module) on the CAN the “Camera” softkey just acknowledges selection but doesn’t go to the next sub menu which is as follows. This will be available once I’ve introduced the module, something which we’ve seen ever so frequently.

The Surround Camera system runs off a LIN circuit whilst the current rear park aid Camera runs on the CAN so will need to run a new wiring loom for the new surround rear camera. Luckily this is a single shielded quad core cable. The new rear camera is also different to the single park aid rear camera which may require a little ingenuity to fit but I won’t really know until I remove the current camera and handle. More on this later.
In the meantime I’m still sourcing hardware and will update as I progress. MY15

I still haven't worked out what a CCF is yet but from reading your posts I take it that there a lot more on my 14HSE than meets the eye? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Lol, i like to keep the grey matter and the hands busy and as I’m waiting on hardware on the outstanding projects this will keep me occupied for now.
There’s already a space under the drivers seat next to the TIM for the IPMB and I plan to start with the rear camera first and add the cameras as I go or become available.
Besides Vanny your about to start the “massage seat” retrofit after you finish a certain piece of hardware 🤔 aren’t you.... Whistle Laughing MY15

Where are you thinking to mount the box?

I'm tempted by up in the cavity above the glove box, seems to make the most sense.

Not sure where it lives on other models

Going under drivers seat next to the TIM.
L538 & L319 have it under the Seat also.



You putting in the surround Camera module? I thought you were doing just the rear IPMB?

Hi,
I am new to the forum but not new to cars.

Have been looking at your posts and very impressed.

I would like to add tv tuner and possibly surround cameras , also some other mods you have made.

I don't know which method you are using to access the CCF files.

Which hardware would you suggest I buy for accessing them diagnostically?

Maybe it would be easier for me to access them and edit them directly?
Does anyone know what module the files are stored in?

I have Metropolis so lots of stuff already fitted.

Like most of my projects it starts with a module and this one is on its way currently after a lot of research deciding which one.
The hardware is basically the same across the JLR platforms with one exception and not a lot of variations during the Gen2.1 cycle.

This particular one has all plugs which is always a plus even though the hsd leads are useless but the Colour coded fakras will
come in very handy as they can be removed from the terminated ends and reused. I do like to keep everything as factory as possible.
This module predates my vehicle as the camera system in both L359 and L538 are based on l320. Infact like most systems they’re the same across the JLR platforms with only breakpoints in MY being the important factor here.
L320 to L494 happened at MY13 which is where the camera system software slightly changed. MY14 L538 has this software update and L319 getting software update at MY16. As L359’s breakpoint was as MY13 the camera software remained at previous format up to end of production. The only real difference being the submenu in the FCDIM which is not in l359’s software and slightly different Park Aid Screen. Note different location for “Display off” softkey and not pictured “Cameras” softkey.

So this left me with either BJ32-14f026 (l538) which up until MY14 is identical electrically to L359 and ch22-14f026 which was in l320 & l319.
So with this module having all the plugs and as I’m wanting to take the most logical path it was the Bj32 module.
If your confused then it gets even more so if I go into hardware changes (HSD Fakra to JAE style plugs) and “tow assist” features but I’ll not go into it any further just to say this is the most likely module to work Laughing
Currently sourcing a couple of HSD cables so will update when some of the hardware starts arriving. MY15

Thanks once again for your detailed posts.

I assume you are sourcing the components secondhand?

I am still unsure which way to go on diagnostic hardware.

I have an Abrites which can use a pass through for Landrover software, but if IID will let me access and edit the files I may go down that route.

Did you ever try RS components for hardware plugs etc?

It’s far more cost affective to source hardware second hand.
I use SDD and an LR approved VCM. I personally get many pm’s regarding problems diagnostically who are not using these. Problems which I don’t experience. All I can advise is spend your money on the important things otherwise you’ll end up with an expensive repair bill and take time to educate yourself on the systems.
I buy hardware from many sources including JLR spare parts. It’s only a few specialists hardware items and harness products which causes a headache now and then but as a whole plugs are reasonably easy to source. MY15
