No idea if its a nut fitting into the rack or just a clip fitting from that photo.

Thanks for your quick reply, I’ll do what you say. Out of curiosity I’ve seen a lot of people on here having to get their steering rack repacked, does this leak here look like I might need that done and if so do you know how much I’m looking at to get this replaced?

I suggest you go back to those posts and ask them any specific questions. A lot of early cars only had rack failures due to weld detritus left in on manufacture. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Hi There was this problem solved successfully ? if so how please was it a clip loose, an O-ring, or a bolted joint, I am asking as today I started the car travelled about 4 miles when I heard a whining coming from the car as got further down the road the steering became quite hard, right away I thought power steering, once I had pulled into a parking space I lifted the bonnet to find the power steering fluid was at the minimum.

If a Boots the chemist was local .......... you could have used Baby Oil ........ does the same thing, quick temporary fix. . |
