New shocks on a 64 reg ... are you sure. Are they leaking or damaged otherwise should be ok for a long time unlesss you been off roading a lot or have an intergalactic mileage . I would get them checked out first before you spend . |

The suspension on my 14 plate XS SD4 auto 35 k miles feels slightly firmer than my previous FL2s if that;s anything to go by. I put it down to using a lot of Evoque components in the final production run but might be wrong. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I have a set of Bill,s. To go on the front of mine. A bit stiffer but normal ride height. Cost £165 a leg going to get the rears soon. Going to run they with a standard spring as I don't want to go wild. But changing then is not easy, when you get the FL2 on stands the front surpenshion is still under tensions. The deals use a large G clamp it a 2 man job that compresses the damper so you can get it out. You can't get spring depresses as there is now room. Get a strong friend to help and have a long bar to apply the need force. |

Thanks guys, its got 76k on it now. When hitting big speedbumps slightly too fast the front shocks are 'topping out' quite loudly and the steering feels a bit wooly compared to how it used to feel. Ill get the local garage to have a look but id expect shocks to go around 80k ish anyway unless modern ones are much better than older models. |

Thanks Ian, thats handly to know. May be a garage job rather than driveway job! Last shocks I did were on a mk2 golf gti and that was pretty easy. |

Last one I did was on my Ford Capri in 1980, I still have the spring compressors and haven't had a shocker go since even running cars up to 120k miles. They used to say back in the 70's that over 30k miles you were living on borrowed time but it's not something I have experienced in decades. My son used his FL2 daily driving through mud and water around farms and never had problems. Same goes for things like track rod ends and I put it down to better rubber seals. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Cheers, may just get the garage to do a health check on it then. Steering racks not an issue on that age car is it? |

Steering rack problems in early FL2s due to poor manufacturing quality leaving cr ap inside the rack otherwise generally OK. Search for it on the forum. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

They do that from new. Not a sign of worn shocks. Bob 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone) 08 FL2 TD4 SE Manual in Rimini Red (Now Gone) |

Interesting that you have a 64 reg that's not still on some sort of warranty. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

You can get a LR extended Warranty up to 10 yrs and 100K miles. We had them on our last three FL2s and any problems have been fixed without query.
