Hi I fitted a mahle filter, the oil light had started to stay on longer at start up before hence the oil change.its probley more in the mind when you start timing the oil light.how long does it normally stop on.

I would make sure the return valve is clean in the housing and try genuine filter with exactly the right spec oil.
There are plenty of technical bullitens about filter housing problems after changing filters. Any rag used to wipe around the housing can leave debris around the valve can cause oil pressure issues. Jaguar x-type sport gone

Oil filter

Hi does the oil filter cartilage have a top and bottom ?.sounds like the filter could be draining back into the sum when engine stopped.fitting the filter you cannot see what your doing just feeling for the location.is it possible to see the valv fron above or is it a mirror job.

Its a diabolical mirror job. Ive a spare filter main housing at home from a 2010 car 34k miles. They are a brain teaser to install, ive done it as part of an engine change so i know it can be done. I think it was done before i fitted the inlet manifold (ive a spare one of those as well; the later one without Swirl flaps) 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,

Sounds a big job to change the whole assembly a last resort I think,I will change to a Mann filter/LR .clean the return valve when it's off.i will also measure the dia of both filters.can you change the oil filter without dropping the oil?.if the return valve is open all the time there should not be much oil in the filter when it's been stood.
