Yes Jamie you don’t need to tell me Rolling Eyes dads had a D1,D2 D3 & D4. Currently he’s still got a D2 & D4! My gripe is the pish advert maybe you’re now converted into the new JLR customer base being a Velar driver Laughing MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

You hit the nail on the head there LRNUT, the customer base of JLR has changed over the years, those of us that have been loyal to brand over the years have slowly been pushed out in favour of new money.

The Velar and a fine car it is too.

Nothing to do being converted, I buy what takes my fancy at the time. You know that, you’ve seen my buying habits.

10th LR and counting, stood by the brand through good times and bad, and boy there’s been some bad times. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I was on the net 3 weeks ago looking at prices.

A tad expensive when the other car in the family is not that cheap but in Saudi Arabia all those years ago a far more capable vehicle than any Land Rover hence the demise of the company then.

Was quite good fun to watch some locals take the gearbox out of one on a pit to find as they lowered it off a snake slither out. Never saw a Saudi move as quick before or ever again. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I would rather push it.

Utter bilge advert, very sick making but hardly any worse than the one for the D4 a few years ago - that featured a couple sat in a D4 parked up in Manhattan or somewhere similar having a domestic. Maybe they were waiting for Recovery.

I am of course just not the sort of customer Land Rover want me to be. I have recently received invites to a Land Rover experience day. I have done that before and a good day out it was but frankly there is nothing in the Land Rover stable I want so I am not sure they would be pleased if I turned up in Landcruiser Utility - a vehicle which I definitely do want - and at only £36k exactly the sort of vehicle that makes a Disco Sport look like a child's plaything.

It’s either the Landcruiser or help me push the D5, you can steer it, I’ll push, I’m immune to the D5 rear end, my eyes have adjusted. Laughing 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

To be fair to JLR, very few of us on here are in their target market - those of us who are still FL2 owners either bought a used vehicle or are not buying new cars every couple of years. This is why we find the ads to be crap and why they treat us like Censored when we walk into a showroom. They have never had an interest in LR enthusiasts beyond the occasional nod in the direction of the marque’s pedigree. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Worms you’ve got a valid point. I bought mine new and placed an order as soon as I seen the Freelander 3 (what we thought it would be called). I don’t like any other LR right now tbh I don’t know what to buy next! Hopefully the new Defender. will tempt me ... MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I’m hanging on as long as I can, though I’m getting closer to the door.

Range Rover/Sport, too expensive
Evoque, been there, a bit too small
Discovery, loved it but really bigger than I need and lost a bit of soul
Disco Sport, been there, didn’t enjoy it
New Defender, perhaps but I’ve no plans to put my name down

The Velar was the only one that I really liked the look of.

I think I’m in denial that the end is looming for me and LR ownership, prices are getting crazy. The one car that I really like the look of at the moment is the new V60, a cross country version would get my attention. I did look at the XC90 before the D5 but the dealer was less than interested in gaining my custom, no vehicle to test drive or an offer to look around the only used one as the showroom model had just been sold and out of bounds. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
