Oh dear, sounds like a software crash to me,the system is canbus run which means that its functions are computer controlled. I suspect that they will just reboot the system but thats not gonna tell you what caused it in the first place. Keep a little black book and write every thing down and when it happened with dates etc just incase it keeps happening, you cant beat having records of faults, you never know when you might need them |

perhaps you could now change the title of your thread to something less alarming, like "plug kicked loose on wiring loom" At work

Exactly same issue as Holts in previous post following AA jump starting me after battery couldn’t cope with the minus 4 temperature. Tha AA had gone it its way. I logged on to this site, saw the advice, followed what Holts described in the last post and to my joy it worked a treat. Can’t understand why jump starting/ charging the battery would cause the problem, And secondly why the fuses worked simply after taking them out and reinstalling them. Pleased with the outcome.

Thank you so much for those who kindly offered the solution to this issue. Today out of the blue my Freelander wouldn’t start. After jump starting the dash display went dead except for a barcode pattern in the central display. I removed the fuse mentioned for a few moments and after replacing all was well again.
