United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Indus Silver
Sat Nav keeps going black and resetting

Hi,

I have a 2007 SE and its has developed a fault with the SAT NAV

The Sat Nav allows you to enter the postcode but when you confirm the route the unit goes blank with an electrical click sound. The radio also goes off at the same time.

If you don't press confirm route then the map and gps happily track where you are on the screen.

I have tried putting an unused European disk in (i.e. mint) to check whether its the disk but the problem persists.

Any ideas what could be wrong with it? Could it be the DVD player? Im hoping its not the loom

Any help most gratefully received!

Sounds a little bit like a CAN BUS issue, something causes the CAN BUS to crash and the relay clunk you hear is the BCM resetting the BUS. I would suggest this is some bad software, but I suspect you'd tell me you haven't changed anything electrical?

I've had a similar problem on a few very cold mornings.

I have noticed that my Sat Nav has been slow to initialise (as if it has forgotten where it is) , and a couple of times this has led to it not calculating a route.

I put it down to battery voltage problems on start up, as it quickly recovers, and in the couple of extreme cases, once the FL2 has run for a mile or so.

PS my FL2 starts OK every time. Although to be fair to the battery it was immediately coping with 2 heated seats, a heated steering wheel, programme button (heated F & R screens, blower & A/C) and of course lights, when the errors ocurred. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
