Lightwater,

I completely agree.

And I followed your lead and made a donation as well.

This site has saved me a lot of money and it has made my Land Rover a very reliable vehicle.

Things that I learned from this site that saved me money

1. Rear differential pinion bearing - I changed my gear oil early and added a magnetic drain plug and I was very lucky (the site brought my attention to the bearing noise)

2. Power steering fluid/reservoir/filter - this site made me aware that these should be changed (the alternative is an expensive pump repair)

3. Hard reset for the electronics and battery replacement - this site helped immensely with electrical problems due to a failing battery (The cost of the battery is insignificant as compared to the cost of replacing various modules and searching for an electrical gremlin that can't be found because the fault is the battery)

4. ATF fluid exchange - once again the forum was very useful

5. Haldex fluid and filter exchange - the alternative is very expensive

6. Power transfer unit gear oil exchange - lots of useful information about what gear oil to use and how to remove the old gear oil (I did contribute on this one as well, I documented how to drill a hole in the transfer unit to make a drain)

There have been other things that I learned on this site the list is not complete.

But the cost to repair any of the items on this list (if I wasn't proactive with the maintenance) would have been very expensive.

And the only reason that I knew to look at these areas was due to the post that other Freel2 members had made.

Thanks everyone.

Happy Motoring

Paul
