As per the title, looking for some advice regarding the considerations before buying a LR Freelander 2.

What commonly goes wrong?

What about the transmission...manual or automatic?

Just remember that a Forum does attract all those who have a problem with their cars. You will therefore see more fault than praise. The Freelander 2 has been LR’s most reliable model so far, only now being surpassed by the Evoque and Discovery Sport, both of which benefit much from the Freelander base design.

Probably the best thing to remember about a FL2 is no matter what the year, unless it's a compete looking wreck, rust and dents with ripped upholstery £4-5K it's worth the same breaking for parts, engine if it runs well £2K and same for the gearbox. There are plenty of run of the mill saloons in breakers yards undamaged except for the engine much younger than the oldest FL2. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
