Just drain the header tank and refill that with a couple of litres of anti freeze if you're bothered - that'll bring it up to strength. Make sure its the same type though - should be red stuff (OAT) in there. Personally, if you've got to almost mid-Feb without it freezing, I would be tempted to leave it until later in the year. Could do it yourself quite easily for about £20. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

cheers Steve, thought as much and to top up with pure anti freeze was my main plan anyway, just thought £87 to drain and refill was a bit over the top (even allowing for disposal of the old stuff) and like you say its lasted so far this winter with no problems and temp has been down to -6 a couple of nights.

Brake fluid attract moisture, change it every 3 years.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic by nature and will absorb moisture from the air over time. Although the brake fluid reservoir has a cap it is not completely sealed and vents to the atmosphere(to allow the fluid level to drop as the pads wear). |

Ill have to check the service book to see when the brake fluid was last changed. Guessing I shouldn't be too concerned with 1% and as the front pads are at 50% I may change the brake fluid when they are done later in the year.

RogB as regards the lights I just this morning asked the girl on the service desk at LR dealers and she told me that the HB3 are , there is no upgrade and she uses Osram NightBreakers If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

mine is booked back in for the 28th to have the headlight wiring mod done under tech bulletin LTB00841v2 released March 2016. I believe they install a new bit of loom to increase resistance slightly to try and stop bulbs blowing.

......and fitting the resistance wire must surely dim them further....... Or has all my electrical theory gone to pot?

Exactly my line of thinking, but at least they reckon it will stop bulbs blowing We should not be restricted by LR to just buying bulbs from them ''because all motor factors sell cheap rubbish ones'' We should be able to buy a suitable bulb from anywhere we wish to, taking on board that the brighter they are then the shorter their life span. But a blown filament is nothing compared to exploding bulbs (happened to me more than once on Evoque and FL2) and melted glass (again happened to me more than once). There is clearly something very wrong with LR design for single bulb HB3 headlamps but of course they will never admit it. |
