Freelander 2 TD4 timing belt kit Genuine or Aftermarket?

Can anyone please advise as there is over £150 difference between Genuine parts from Land Rover and Dayco OEM on eBay?

Gates / Dayco kits etc are going to fine but you need to avoid any Chinese copies so choose a seller that is not in Bongo Bongo land.

Not used them and no connection but I think the fact they have a workshop and parts department something like this will be fine, on my list to do well in advance of 10 years probably next year at around 75K miles.

As YB says Gates/Dayco kits will be fine but they will all contain an element of Chinese parts notably the tensioner/idler bearings and probably the water pump as well. However no guarantees that a genuine Land Rover Kit won`t contain parts from the far East. A huge number of well known "quality"suppliers now source a large part of their goods from China but don`t really advertise the fact! I wonder why that is!

Hi guys thanks for your replies. Considering the current Cam belt, tensioners and water pump have lasted 9 years and 121,000 miles I think I'm going to go for LR genuine parts from my local main dealer. So if anything does fail I have someone within touching distance that I can blame. Laughing

Okay, the kit is as follows. Cambelt(Gates), Tensioner(Polish), Pulley(Italy) and water pump(FOMOCO).
All from main dealer at £242.
So in conclusion, could be cheaper to buy aftermarket.

Yes, but probably save £100 pounds only to have to source the parts again. So will have the parts from LR fitted by local garage and won't have to worry about it again for the next 10 years will do me. Thanks all for your comments.

Heldex oil/filter change next which I will be doing myself.

Haldex is not a easy job to get at, anyone near Bell Engineering may be best going there. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
