Rich, When you say the car won`t start can you give more details? Does it turnover ok but just won`t fire up or is the battery flat and you get nothing happening when you try and start. Do you get dash lights coming on? |

Hi, no turnover at all however I get lights on the dash (they flash on and off). Also get error messages about the HDC (?) error. I then get a message saying "KEY DOCKED".

This sounds like a flat battery |

HDC fault warning often comes up when the battery is low and needs charging. Sounds like you have a flat battery. |

Thanks for your reply - the lights work though, surely if the battery was flat they wouldn't? Mind you the car wasn't used for about 4 weeks.... |

If the car is still fitted with the original battery you may want to consider changing it as 5 years is about when most batteries begin to fail (that's why the offer a 4 year warranty) |

A battery can have enough in it to light the lamps but not enough in it to turn over the starter. Unlike some cars which will try to turn over (you get a click and a whirr) I believe the FL2 assesses the battery conditon when you press the start button and won't even try if it's too low. The other thing that might have happened is that it went into sleep mode. This happens after non use of the car for 4 weeks or so. (30days???) You say "about 4 weeks". Was it more or less? Either way you need to get a charger on the battery. A booster pack would give it enough to start up.....probably. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE Last edited by blacktiger on 21st Jan 2018 5:44 pm. I agree with all the above. You need to charge the battery and hopefully all will be well. Then consider renewing the battery in due course. |

Morning all, just to say the problem is now resolved - and you were right, the battery had a bad cell and needed replacing.

Not just a battery problem as you report if you left the vehicle unused for over 4 weeks. A FL2 is set to close down even further at around 4 weeks to protect the core settings so I understand.
