Hi,

I have a 2013 TD4 XS with 17 inch wheels. I need to fit new brake pads and disks and as I tow a caravan wondered about fitting the petrol version disk brakes. I have read the other posts on this issue but cannot find any reference as to what is the minimum size wheel that can be used for this upgrade. Will the V6 petrol engine brakes fit inside a 17 inch wheel? I think they should as I believe that some of the petrol versions had 17 inch wheels but would like confirmation before purchasing all the parts.

Aren’t the spare steel wheels 17”? If so, they should fit. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Chat to your insurance company as it would be a mod and they may sting you for it. The brakes as standard will not let you down unlike the headlights. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Maybe you could measure the smallest gap between the caliper and the wheel inside surface and then subtract the additional radius of the larger disk and see if the result will give you enough clearance. Jules

This link suggests an I6 can use 16" wheels to 19" wheels.

You will need to declare this conversion to your insurance company. At the end of the day the brakes are good on these vehicles and if yours are not you need to some work on them. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Did you ever go ahead with this?

I am wanting to upgrade too and can't find a definitive answer if the re-positioned caliper for the 316mm disc fits inside 17" rims?

You can remove the weights if you have to and have them rebalanced using just clip-on weights on the inner wheel rim flange only. Any tyre shop will be able to do that for you. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Ive got all the parts for this conversion waiting to go on.
Id be interested to know if you detect an improvement in braking.

I did a similar conversion to our Fabia VRS several years ago and it made a huge difference - same pads and calipers just a bit further from the centre. Jules

I’ve ordered some Brembo 316mm discs, OEM pads and front Caliper carriers. At the same time I picked up some new 3.2 Petrol rear vented discs and larger Piston calipers.

Will be getting my local mechanic to fit in the next week or so and will report back on the results. Hopefully should be a harmonious match for the added grunt after the Bluefin remap.

Has anybody investigated what effect these changes have to the settings of the various anti-lock and stability systems of the FL2?
or are you just hoping the dynamic nature of these systems will correct any strange behaviour? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
