If you just remove the radio you will lose the controls on the steering wheel and the parking sensors. Here is some info of a kit http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic29013.html that retains these. Maybe the same kit can be used for the head units you found. It also contains a amplifier bypass cable to connect the speakers again (except the subwoofer I think).

The Umno Tech bit looks to be what I may need.

This has been covered a fair few times (not being cheeky) on the forum and each time I hope to see a slightly less over the top solution that doesn't involve a new head unit and about 10 harnesses and adapters to *fingers crossed* keep the steering wheel controls and the reverse parking sensors working.

Fair dos. I have to say I haven't noticed a great deal of audio quality loss. By the time you factor in road noise and children.

It should work. I was speaking with Alex Pescaru in PMs and he said something about emulating the CD box.

Also check your phone's capabilities. My phone will only connect with 1 Bluetooth device at the same time. If I connect to a Bluetooth receiver for music it will disconnect the hands-free phone connection. So its streaming music or hands-free phone calls but not both at the same time. It's a known limitation of my phone, probably more phones have the same limitation. |

Good point. I'll see if the manufacturer has an answer for this

What they are saying on the web site is correct, it is not a device limitation. It is my phone (and maybe others) that doesn't want to connect in parallel. As soon as I try to connect a second device it will disconnect the first. |

Will the JLR Audio Connectivity Module work on a FR2 HSE 08 alpin system and allow audio streaming as well as use of steering wheel controls for the telephone? If so, are there instructions anywhere for the installation and the parts required? (I don't want to go down the route of using the aux jack if I can help it and the Umno website is currently down so can't see what that is) |

No it doesn’t give you Bluetooth streaming in itself but because you have a digital usb input it will give you a digital input if you use a Bluetooth usb stick unlike the aux input which is analog. MY15
