I have to reset the windows after the battery's been disconnected, other wise it doesn't do the one-touch close. ----------

If he's bought the same as me, it definately won’t be a stop-start battery. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

An AGM battery is needed to cope with the extra demands of stop-start. I suspect that without this the stop-start won't work. More to the point, I think I have read on here that the charging parameters are different, and that if an AGM battery is replaced by a non-AGM or vice-versa the charging circuit controls in the ECU have to be changed. Anyone more technical got more info on this?

EDIT: For example see SID's comment at http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic27774.html?highlight=agm+battery Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Oh well, at least they now know how to fit the replacement! Smile

EDIT: now replaced with an AGM one. All credit to Halfords for a very quick no-quibble replacement and waived additional cost of the AGM battery. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

OK, next dumb question. Apart from removing the two terminals, do i need to do anything else to lift the battery out. Seems stuck fast. I know it's heavy, and I'm not exactly Mr universe. There is what looks like a metal stalk running down the cavity at one side of the battery with a hexagonal head on top (at battery height), is this a bolt that i need to undo to free the battery? Can't really see where it goes/ends, and it is unwilling to unscrew. I could give it more force, but am afraid of breaking something.

EDIT - sorted.
yes you have to unscrew it.
Made removing the battery very easy (NOT!!!)

Glad Halfwords sorted it. I avoided them when I replaced mine simply because they didn't stock the battery rating I was recommended from here. It would seem AGM batteries are still a bit of a mystery despite so many cars being start/stop now. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…
