transfer box

Hi i had a new transfer box fitted yesterday to my 2012 SD4 HSE BY THE DEALERS.Would they have messed with the gear box while fitting it.T he reason i ask is i went for a ride on the motorway today and it didn,t want to change gear at 2000 rpm infact i was having to put it in 6th gear with command shift. At one point i was doing 70 mph on 3000 rpm and 12 mpg on inst mpg ???

If you use command shift and shift early like
The gear box did before do you feel that the motor has no power?

As far as i know the auto gear box shift when
There is a certain amount of torque reached.
Pepole that tuned their car actuly complained the car is shifting too early
Since the needed torque for shifting is now coming earlier.

So in your case i whould belive loss of torque around 2000rpm can be the reason but you said you do not feel a change in power so you might look in direction of sensors.

i was led to believe gears changed at 2000rpm with a steady acceleration

They will have reset the the gearbox software, just drive as normal as possible and it will eventually learn.

This is not a learning issue as changing gears at 3000rpm is not in any learning program no matter how you will push the car to its limits.
This is why they put the sport option but disconnecting the battery to preform reset is a good idea

I am led to believe that it is best to let the engine reach normal working temp before you use command shift(from d3 forum)my 59 plate hse 78k is reving around 1800rpm at 70 mph so something not right at all.
perhaps a visit to stealers for them to drive it and advise. gone

The motor is going back into the dealers for them to look into. The gear shift seems to be intermittent some times its fine then others it seems to be struggling to shift to 4th and 6th and theres still a rumble somewhere in the drivetrain which turns into a whine when travelling on motorways. My guess is a wheel bearing but i,m no technician.W hen i took it in the first time the technician agreed there was a rumble but they tought the transfer box was causing it but obviously not.We will see what happens this time i,m just glad it has the LR extended warranty
