I had a TDI Defender for many years - taught the kids to drive in it and even stuck a 3.5V8 in it.

That car wasn’t too far away from £60k when new.

I wouldn’t agree that people got out of the way! In my experience people a) underestimated your approach speed and b) assumed you would hold them up and had to be in front of you. So there were always folk overtaking or pulling out from side roads when it really wasn’t safe to do so, only to then sit at a slower speed in front of you.

Bit of a bargain compared to JLRs latest £150k V8!

My wife would buy another one tomorrow ! It’s never going to happen though . Round here you might as well just put a large amount of cash in a carrier bag and hand it to the nearest hooded scrote cruising the country lanes in a Tranny . That way you cut out the middleman . Our last two fell pray to the particular industry which is Defender theft .. On Wednesday night the last person near us who still had a Defender came out to find it gone, despite the worst nights weather for years , the scrotes weren’t put off coming out to nick one .

The one Tassie tiger they see is in fact a fox, & there are questions about that! The only thing you will see when going down to Tassie is a map! & that looks pretty good! Maybe a TOYOTA logo across the back & another one on the bonnet & grill for good measure, then they think it is a 70 series Landcruiser & pi_s on it!
