Has anyone successfully changed their lamps on Freelander 2 from halogen to bi-xenon by replacing the lamp clusters?
I've read on here that they are a straight "plug and play" replacement but my local Land Rover dealer says they are not.

Thinking perhaps they were concerned about warranty issues, I took out a halogen unit and plugged in a bi-xenon unit and only the sidelight works.

First post BTW so seasonal greetings everyone.

I think the dealer is correct, anyway you need auto levelling for xenons At work

Did you get the adaptive or non adaptive bi-xenons? I have read that non-adaptive will plug and play but ada[tive wont. Prob bollerks though.. do the xenons you bought come with ballasts? 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

I bought a kit of eBay to replace the low beam bulb. I had to make my own clip to secure the bi-xenon bulb into the lens but otherwise it was quite a simple switch over.

I made my clip out of a large paperclip that I bent out and straightened to suit. The bulbs are held securely and haven't moved at all in nearly 12 months.

I still have a Halogen bulb for the high-beam but I'm not to concerned as the low beam bi-xenon is really bright and gives good light coverage while lighting up reflective objects way out into the distance. Very occasionally I get flashed by oncoming traffic who think my high beams are on but I usually travel with the lights pointing down a touch using the adjuster on the dash and don't have any problems. 2007 TD4 SE

I get flashed all the time... So then i have to give a high beam back to shut them up

Maybe not in yours because you have the HSE but in the SE its a rolling knob next to the headlight switch. 2007 TD4 SE

Well.. i googled the different versions and the HSE has Dynamic headlamp levelling...

Very impressive stuff, how well it works, i couldnt tell ya, because till 5 minutes ago,i didnt even know i had it.

all xenon equipped cars have the auto levelling, which uses sensors on the front and rear suspensions At work

Can I bump this?

I'd really be interested to know if anyone has sucessfully changed the halogen units for non-adaptive bi-xenon units, even if it needed a bit of rewiring. As I mentioned, I'd need to use the manual levelling.

In the meantime I've fitted Philips X-treme bulbs which are a big improvement but I'd really like to get the xenons working.
