Has anyone tried replacing the main support bearings on the main drive shaft rather than replacing the entire assembly?

If so any tips and where did you get the parts from?

Has anybody here experience worn prop shaft bearings?

The last time I worked on a prop shaft you could remove the Hardy Spicer "spider" in the joint by removing circlips which were holding the bearing cups in, then everyone seemed to move to the cups being staked in (they claimed that they could balance the shaft more accurately this way) and you basically had to replace the whole unit. So ..... 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

I would imagine those parts are only available from LR as they aren't common parts to be replaced.

on the FL1 there were similar bearings either side of the centre Viscous Coupler which was always getting replaced and you were advised to change the VCU bearings at the same time, so they were quite easily sourced.

Have you contacted Austen at Bell Engineering on this forum as he seems to the be main man for Freelander 1 & 2 and Evoque transmission set ups.?
