Folding mirrors

Would someone outside of North America be so kind as to describe how the folding outside mirror function works? I'm just curious and wondering if it's something my dealer can program as it appears to have been either disabled or perhaps not installed in our cars (along with the all windows up/down functionality of the remote!) Greg East

press the two (left-right) mirror control buttons simultaneously. it depends on trim level whether this function is included or not. i'm not sure in which trim levels they have bundled said function in the U.S. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

Mine (UK XS) also automatically fold/unfold whenever I lock/unlock the doors. I seem to remember reading that this was a dealer-configurable option, but not sure about North America though

Power fold only works when stationary or travelling below 12mph so dont expect it to work at speed!!

So I shouldn't be trying to squeeze through a narrow tunnel at 60 mph by folding my mirrors in then ? Smile

Especially as you'd have to take the key fob out to press the buttons!

Thanks all. I just went and tried it on our I6 SE (highest trim level available in the US) and no joy. Now I'm wondering if the motors, etc. are there and disabled... Greg East

I sent an email to my LR sales guy, asking about the folding mirrors and about the remote opening and closing of all the windows, here's his reply Sad

"Well let us start with the windows. US spec key fob does not have that feature – as I understand it for child safety reasons. The rear view mirrors on European spec cars are completely different than US spec. There is no folding motor is US spec. "

Yes, that would be true. those of us in the UK don't get "objects might be closer than they appear" etched into our drivers side mirror Smile ... which only matters if you're being chased by a Tyrannosaurus Rex according to the movies.

It is only the narrow roads and parking spaces in the UK that require folding mirrors. Having worked and lived in the USA for three years I'm sure if I was driving an FL2 in the USA I wouldn't be bothered about folding mirrors ....
