Freelander 2 pricing Australia

Aussie pricing:

Base spec: 52k plus on road.
HSE: 62k plus on road.

on road costs about 5-6 k

sun roof 3K
electronic pack 6k. (sat nav, pre stere)
metalic paint 1.7k (dont think there is a non metalic colour here)

D3 base V6 64k on road.
D3 TDV6 se aprox 75k on road

makes the freelander very expensive.

Michael.

Starting to look expensive.

yeah it looks like a HSE will be around 70k pluss by the time its on the road.

Se d3 looks better deal.

Did you get an invite to landrover unveiling at the motor show. was a good night. Very Happy

I think they are pricing themselves out of the market again.

Michael.

I ordered my FL2 last month (Early April).
Was told it is now in the country and Land Rover are just waiting to set a release date.

Personally - I think they are waiting until the have sold their SE Disco3 stock before letting the FL2 loose.

BTW bought a metalic Black (forget the name of the black) with Alpaca interior - no sun roof

On the road $62,900 - I thought I did well, but another dealer said they could do it for $500 cheaper - only found this out after I had signed the contract.

Some dealers are saying July 07 will be the available date - but my dealer has guaranteed June delivery.

They don't even have specification details available to hand out.

I am not that happy with Land Rover's approach to this, considering I knew more about the car than any of their sales staff.

HSE - Metalic Black, Alpaca interior. Diesel 2.2 litre

Options - not much - Metalic paint & tow ball (ie tow tongue). Getting after market tinting (3M film) for $200 - could justify $500 via the dealer.

Not getting sun roof as it doesn't have a complete cover (ie only a shade cloth cover, not a 'no light cover' - hope that makes sense.

Really peeved Bluetooth is an optional extra - for $2,000. It is standard in all UK models - meaning Australia had to have taken the Bluetooth out of the standard factory electrics settings.

Sales service from Land Rover is non-existant - you think they would be keen to get this product sold, but I guess they are trying to offload their Disco 3 stock & probably not getting too many FL2 in their first allotment. But still, dealer has no brochures or marketing material to hand out.

BMW sales service is so much better - but the X3 just wasn't for me.

Yes I agree I knew all before they did - I even had to give them the Mar07 price list they didnt have yet.
Interesting about the sunroof nor being able to be fully closed - I wasnt aware of that one.
I guess privacy tint plus shade cloth will still be pretty good.
Cheers

I am really keen to see what other deals have been negotiated in Australia. While still a brand spanking new product in Oz, I don't think dealers should be getting away with RRP sale price only. There are plenty of alternatives in the market and they are going to play the 'limited stock' card on everyone - don't believe it. Be prepared to be a little flexible on the colours, but make sure you screw them down.

Use the LCT (Luxury Car Tax) limits as a pressure point in their pricing - $59,007 - final price after all taxes and dealer delivery etc.

Make sure you get the options you want and have this number as the focal point.

Get them to discount the extras / options.

Also, make sure you don't get caught out on the after market add ons they can do for you - leather treatment, tinting, paint protection, dash protection. They have priced this at absolute max RRP - if they won't budge on the price of these things, look at your own after market options - you can pick up exactly the same leather & paint protection services at almost half the price than what your dealer can get it for you - no kidding. Think I am joking, ask a quality panel beating shop what a paint treatment would cost (not a back alley panel beater, but a quality, higher end shop - the price will amaze you. A 3M tint (not trying to promote a particular product here, but they are known as a good quality tint) should cost between $2-300 - not the $500 job the dealer can do for you.

Sure, everyone needs to make money, but do you want to hand over your hard earned cash (or extra car lease repayments) without making sure you have got the best deal. NB: notice the sales guys are driving nice cars (when not taking a demo home), that is the nice sales commission built into the price & dealer delivery - there is always more room to move.

That is my rant for the day.

Well, its back on again.......in the end, they revalued my trade in again and offered me an extra $2K......so now I only loose $2K........

Still not that happy but in the end I get a new and hopefully better vehicle........

I too starting to think about the D3 SE but then at 20 litres per 100K petrol, I simply dont want to go there especially with news saying we will reach over $1.50 a litre by end June.
As my car only takes Premium that would make it over $1.60.........simply out of the question.....

Hence a smaller and cheaper running 2.2 Diesel....... Trust No-one but Yourself
